PHI is pleased to announce the launch of an international architectural competition for the design of PHI Contemporary – a 6 900 m² / 74 000 ft² cultural institution in Old Montreal, dedicated to exploring the contemporary through public engagement with art and culture.

Prize: Stage 1: CAN $65,000 Stage 2: CAN$200,000 Stage 3: CAN$75,000 + CAN$75,000 for the multidisciplinary team’s participation 

The City of Kelowna is pleased to present a new open design competition for infill development. The design competition sets out to generate innovative new ideas for infill housing that works to enhance affordability, diversity, resiliency, inclusivity, and livability in Kelowna’s housing system.

Fee: Free

Prize: The top three submissions will receive a cash award. The first place prize is $10,000, second place is $5,000, and third place is $2,500. 

Presentation skills are just as important as designing; one of the best mediums to present your architectural designs is through rendering. Architectural rendering aims to create life-like experiences of the buildings before they are built. Rendering aids the designer to convey his or her ideas, an image that represents the designers’ imagination most realistically.

Prize: -Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to acknowledge the excellent performance of all Winners, Honourable Mentions, and Top 20 entries.

-The Winners and Honorable Mentions and the top 20 will be published on Archiol’s website and other international architecture websites partnered with us.The best entries will be featured in Archiol’s Yearbook.All the participants will receive e-certificates.

This competition is to create pedestrian-friendly urban milieus within the distance of 15 minutes ― the average time taken for a human being to walk 1 km ― and suggest spaces where residents can stay communicating with one another.

The third annual MICROHOME architecture competition is part of the Bee Breeders Small Scale Architecture Appreciation Movement, which hopes to highlight the fact that bigger isn’t always better. With great design and innovative thinking, small-scale architecture could change how this and the next generation view residential property.

The Office 2021 Design Challenge is the first in an annual competition series in which participants are tasked with exploring the work environment. The jury will be looking for design projects that use architecture as a tool to improve a worker’s wellbeing as well as their productivity. This challenge is an opportunity to envision the new normal of the workplace post-COVID.

The Iceland Greenhouse Restaurant competition is a collaboration with Vogafjós Farm Resort, located east of lake Mývatn. For this competition, participants are tasked with designing a greenhouse concept restaurant. Fresh, locally grown foods are scarce in Iceland, particularly during the winter months. The Greenhouse Restaurant competition is calling for submissions for designs of a greenhouse that would also function as a dine-in restaurant.
