We secretly procrastinate while searching for different elements for our architectural projects online lol. This time around, we wanted to do an interior post-digital collage using photoshop. You’ll see why some architecture firms decide to do this type of illustration and what are the principal tips you need to keep in mind
Follow the steps below or watch the video tutorial here.
INTERIOR COLLAGE ILLUSTRATION

GET 3D MODEL READY

If you have an old project, you can re-use it to this interior collage illustration! We modeled an interior house in Sketchup

We exported the white line mode to a photoshop file. This 3d model doesn’t have too much detail in it, all of the detail we will be putting in afterward in photoshop.
SEARCH FOR TEXTURES

Start looking for textures, remember that the style of these images have elements and textures that are accommodated with perspective. Keep in mind that these textures don’t have too much contrast between them.

Look for textures with high resolution, find them with the google tools or also find textures here.
ACCOMMODATE TEXTURES

COLOR ADJUSTMENTS

Using the brightness and contrast adjustment tool, select the frames of the doors and window, and lower down the brightness.
These are very simple tools. This is different from a render, it doesn’t have a lot of shadows, it doesn’t have ambient shadows, it doesn’t have natural light. It has the important things, textures, materials, sensibility of the image.
ADDING ELEMENTS

You can download a door texture, import it and adjust the color you want in photoshop using ctrl + u.

Use ctrl + t to accommodate the door. Also keep in mind the color palette of this image, as you can see in this one we are working more with pastel colors. If you don’t have a clear color palette, here are some ideas.

After we added a landscape image behind the window, we also added an Arabian carpet, this of course is one of the famous clichés of these types of images. Using ctrl + t we accommodate the carpet with the perspective of the image.

There are different ways of achieving these types of images, if you want to know more about the basics of a post-digital collage, we also have a premium course, find more info here.
We looked for interior plants with white background to erase them easily.

The basics of these types of images are the same, we want things that don’t have too many shadows, too much contrast, colors that go along with each other. Did you like this tutorial? Watch the video tutorial below!
