As humans, it is normal to get upset when we don’t win something, but that is the most important lesson, not winning because that failure is where you learn the most. What better way to start learning than participating in architecture competitions? 
These competitions teach you many things, and if you win wow! If you don’t, keep on practicing, every day until you get better for the next competition. 
So here are some of the many competitions going on this month.

Entries for 2021 are now open! Entry deadline: 17 September 2021


  1. Hand-drawing
  2. Hybrid
  3. Digital (must be a still image, not animated)

Entry price:

Standard: £198 (including VAT)
Students and under 30s: £24 (including VAT)


Winning and shortlisted drawings are displayed at Sir John Soane’s Museum and WAF 2021. For the 2020 competition, Make designed a virtual gallery to showcase them. The winners also receive a delegate pass to WAF, where they’ll have their work displayed and be presented with an award.

Entries for the school proposal are open until 22 September
